Kia Ora Campers
Firstly I would like to extend a huge welcoming to our first time and new campers coming to the Lake Hawea Holiday Park.
For those that have been here before let me tell what has been happening while you have been away.
Over the Winter period, the Fulton Hogan digger came wandering in to tidy up the swimming area down on the reserve and it was a great opportunity to pull our 90 tree stumps about the park that were annoying the boys hile mowing lawns. There is one left down at the bottom kitchen, just a wee bit of electricity under that stump but we will have it by next year. We also gravelled the roads, over 900 cubic meters of gravel came out of the swim area. We even built up our own two Beaches at Windsurfer bay and Main beach for you all to enjoy. No more clambering over rocks.
Another development; we have pushed a cycle/walking track around behind the campground. So if you were after a BMW (brisk morning walk) then the loop track takes about 35 minutes. So kids get your bikes out and
go for a ride around the park. We should have a bike race during the Xmas period. Anybody keen, let me know!
An arbourist came for a week and we had a tidy up. Some trees well over due for a haircut had a limb up. You can now move around the park without knocking your caravan. A big group of sycamore trees wilding in the middle of the park have also now been cleared to open up the area.
And we now have a cricket ground. The Hawea Cricket Ground (HCG) is situated at the furthest part of the park (where we ran paintball last season). If you our wandering around down the tracks take your cricket bat or rugby ball.
Around the office and kitchen we have been paving and making a bbq pit. Hopefully this will stop muddy feet messing up the bathroom floors.
So did anyone here that we have been “smoking” in the campground. If anyone needs a fish smoked I am your man. You catch them then I will smoke them for you. I smoked 35 fish in the camp in November. We had plenty of compliments for overseas guests who had their salmon smoked.
Delicious.
During lambing period on the farm a wee lost lamb appeared. He was named by Georgie Burdon as “Blossom”. Blossom has become my shadow and even rides the golf card and ride on mower. Blossom now has a number of mates and the flock is up on last year to 5. It has been a real treat for the travelling visitors to feed the lambs. Lorraine is not sure as they have eaten all her cabbages again.
From the staff and owners we are looking forward to you coming to the camp for your holiday and making it a memorable and warm stay.
See you soon.
